- I am new to music
- I can play by ear, but I can't read notation/don't understand theory
- I can read from a score, but without sheet music I am lost
- I can play another instrument(s), but I'm interested in piano
Good for you! Multi-instrumentalism is always a good thing. I started playing drums twenty-some years after I started playing piano, and I've found that each one influences and reinforces the other in a beneficial feedback loop. Your knowledge of your current instrument(s) will make learning piano that much easier, and learning piano will expose you to ideas that will broaden your approach to your other instrument(s).
